Two Rivers, named after our location between the mighty rivers Wye and Severn, was formed in 2003 when three local, musically-minded friends with past event organisational experience were asked to host an event for a party of Bretons visiting the area.
This proved to be great fun, with the three enjoying working together, had a common interest in history, culture and tradition, and lead directly to "Folk on the Riverbank”, the fore-runner of the current Festival. The next logical progression was the “Weekend of Music and Dance” featuring Kate Rusby inside the grounds of Chepstow Castle for the first concert of it’s kind. The Castle is the jewel in our crown.
This 1800 sell-out concert and dance Weekend attracted visitors from all parts of the U.K. and also from abroad. It also revealed to the organisers the need for a campsite, and so was born the Two Rivers Chepstow Folk Festival with it’s campsite at the fantastic Chepstow Racecourse.
Two Rivers is committed to the organisation of affordable, sustainable events, providing not only entertainment but equally importantly, opportunities for those of all ages and abilities and interests to get involved, both with the activities and also organisationally. The Festival is but one of a number of traditional and cultural events organised by the Group. We are also determined to provide an improved experience each year.
