The building of this magnificent Castle, set on towering limestone cliffs directly above the raging waters of the River Wye was begun in 1067. Chepstow Castle is one of the oldest stone-built castles in Britain and commands stunning views over what was the strategic crossing point in to Wales and a perfect defence site. The 2006 concert was a sell-out featuring Kate Rusby . It was limited to 1800 all-seated (unreserved) tickets. There were bars and entertainment outside the Castle leading up to the Concert and during the day. Access to other areas of the Castle during the concert was not possible, but visitors were welcome to see the Castle in full during the weekend of Music and Dance. Two Rivers view the events they organise as a real opportunity to introduce the wider public to the history and traditions of Chepstow and its Castle and this year Cadw have agreed to traditional Music and Dance performances during the normal opening hours of the Castle. The Castle itself closes to visitors at 6pm and is open for the Concerts at 6.30pm. The Lower Bailey is an all-seated open air venue, a natural amphitheatre and a quite marvellous setting for Folk Music.
Further venues include, The Micky Sharpz marquee and The Jester marquee at the capsite Friday 4th July , The Chepstow Riverbank, Bridge Inn, Three Tuns, The King‘s Head, Town Gate, Five Alls, Coach and Horses, Three Tuns and others to be confirmed. New for 2008, Friday Headline OYSTERBAND at the Racecourse campsite.
